Brigid, Goddess of the returning light, of spring and blacksmiths, she is a Celtic goddess and some say also a saint. She is known by many names, and has many attributes. She is the goddess of healing poetry, and smith craft, and has a strong association with fire and spring.
Her Saints celebration day is the 1st of Feberuary, and she is often invoked at spring during pagan Imbolic celebrations in the northern hemisphere.
.
Here in the southern hemisphere Imbolc, or the festival of Brigid as I like to call it is the 1st of August, as that is the beginning of our spring. This time of year for us in Aotearoa, we celebrate Lammas or as which I call Lughnassah, the festival of Lugh, The god of justice, oathkeeping, and nobility, who is also in this collection of Celtic Gods.
